Could you give a brief overview of ship combat? Are there rounds? What determines if a ship fires its torpedoes or guns? Do certain weapons only fire during certain rounds? Does a ship's health affect its weapon systems or speed? All I know so far is that speed determines initiative. I know things Are still in the working phase. Thanks!

Also, can you give some sort of idea what the weapon systems do? How does a depth charge rack compare to a depth charge thrower to an anti sub mortar? How does a 5" gun compare to a 4" gun? Just some rough ideas would be great!

Generally speaking, bigger guns do more damage. The stats shown are compiled into numeric damage values based on a bunch of math. I might make those publicly visible at some point.

Why are most players under defensive cooldown for a ridiculously long time now?

The cooldown timer is based on the damage done relative to strength. If you think there's a problem with it, let me know and I'll take a look.

I haven't been keeping track of the length of the cool down, but I think it works ok. It gives a player a chance to recover. Hey V, what happened to you? You lost a ton of land and strength very quickly.

I just won. Almost everything resets afterwards(ships, land, strength).

The old version of the game had everyone reset. It had the downsides that people generally didn't like loosing all their stuff, and that winners tended to be the same couple people.

I'm trying top player reset in this version of it to see if it works better. I'm hoping it'll give a larger group of people the chance to come out on top.

About the defensive cooldown, almost half the players on the first page of the players' list and the entire 2nd player list are on cooldown. There's almost no one left open to attack.

Does the timer have anything to do with when they login or if they complete any actions? I remember getting hit pretty hard and going into defensive cool down. I bought some new ship's and when I logged in a few hours later, I was out of the cool down. Some players have been in cool down for days or weeks, is it because they haven't logged on or done any actions since getting hit?

Quite possibly. Our active player count is down by a lot right now. (That's mostly my fault, it's been a bad summer for me for doing things)

What is the difference between a dive bomber and a torpedo bomber in the game?

A dive bomber's attacks are affected by deck armour.

Torpedo attacks ignore armour.
