Just a place to ask WW about any part of the game mechanics you may want/need some clarification on.

I'll start off with this one. With base defenses such as light and heavy cannons, minefields and the various air squadrons do they only work when your fleet is in port during an attack? I've been attacked with no fleet in and have seen zero damage done to the enemy fleet. With the defenses I have that should not be possible and yet I see it time and time again that an enemy vessel comes to attack and even if it doesn't manage to take land, it makes it off unscathed. Do the cannons, squadrons and air wings only act as a mechanic that limits land loss?

Right now base defenses only add to the troop strength when defending. Eventually they'll actually damage ships (or do other interesting mechanics), but that's a medium-long term plan.

No offense, but I find carriers shitty. Sent a fleet of 4 dds w/ 10k+ exp and a 12k+ exp carrier. sinks only 3 mfp landers lol

I can take a look at it, but keep in mind that RNG is thing. You might just have shit luck.

Yeah I'm thinking about that too. If I'm not wrong RNG stands for random number generator, right? Does the calculations apply to the fleet as a whole when in battle? or does every ship has its own RNG for its damage output during battles? Im not really good in this, but please enlighten me about it.

Each ship has its own generation for what ship it targets and how much damage it does.

Do carriers tend to primary larger vessels like cruisers and up over smaller vessels? Or is it the other way around?

Oh okay. So how about experience? How does it work? Does it act like a multiplier for everything i.e. damage, evasion and so on
?

Last time I asked (a couple days ago) WW said that currently experience is only causing ships to do increased damage. Previously is was making them harder to kill but then ships just weren't getting destroyed at all.

So how about speed? It should obviously affect the evasion rate of the ship. What other stuff does it affect?

Base defenses are really crappy. Feels like all these 'cannons' and 'artillery' are just shooting duds or something

I dunno, they work pretty damned good as a land loss limiter/troop buff.

I think right now speed just effects who shoots first and he's planning to add dodge to it but it's not in right now. lol.
Base defenses at the moment are only giving extra home troops which can stop or limit the amount of land taken. I believe the plan is to eventually have defenses give less troops but doll out actual damage. Things are missing from the old version because he's redoing everything from scratch with updated and better code.

Basically what husky said.

On a side note, how would you all feel about a mechanic for troop ships where the troops would actually get killed in attacks and have to be replaced? Cool idea or too much micromanagement?

Would that only be for troop ships or would it extend to ground troops as well?
